Straus Family Creamery Landscape Transformation
July 27, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Help us support local businesses in making our environment a priority, and inspire other companies to do the same. We’ll be working with Straus to save 181,250 gallons of water a year!!
Sustainability is a founding principle and core value of Straus Family Creamery. Their practices promote good land stewardship, animal welfare and help to sustain family farms and communities. This summer we will be working with their Petaluma company headquarters to take their sustainability efforts to the next level, and model water-conservation and habitat at their office complex. Not only will their office be an excellent model site, but their employees are also dedicated to making this project possible, and will be joining the workdays – we applaud their commitment to being the change!
Surrounded by luscious green lawn and big businesses, this project will be influential for the Industrial parkway, and Straus will be setting the tone for modeling sustainability at a company level. With 14,500 sq ft to transform, we will be working on this project in three phases. Phase 1 will be to sheet mulch the landscape. We need your help to make this possible! Come out to learn what sheet mulching is about and how it is done; this is a technique that you can apply at any sized site! We will also share resources and rebate programs that can help you complete a sheet mulch project.
We invite you to bring your positive energy and excitement and participate in this big day of water conservation! We will be having a potluck lunch, and Straus will be providing an ice cream bar. If you would like to participate, either as a volunteer, musician, joke teller, photographer, chef, bubble blower, the possibilities are endless to plug into this project! Please sign up or email Liz at liz@dailyacts.org for more information.
This event is family friendly and you can join us any time during the day. We hope to see you there!
