front south garden

The plan is to deer fence the area in front and south of our house, and develop this area into a summer garden (it gets very little winter sun). It is on a relatively steep slope that will need swales or to be terraced. Gopher precautions will also need to be made. We would like to incorperate permaculture principles as much as possible. I hope to get the deer fence up and start developing a few beds this summer, and a few more each year. There are some fruit trees already planted: 2 mature but small peaches, 1 mature winter apple, 1 mature fugi perssimon, a young asian pear, and a young bosc pear. By fencing this area we will be adding up to another 400 sq feet of growing area.
