When we got the house, the front yard was a weed filled lawn with a shade tree in the middle. There were roses and passionflowers along the fence, which are still there. I located all the sprinklers from the sprinkler system that was there and converted them to drip irrigation. We collected cardboard and sheetmulched with wood chips. The borders of the beds are made from pices of a concrete slab we broke up from the back yard. We also have fruit trees, chickens and more garden space in the back yard. We are on the east side of Petaluma.
