Daily Acts Sustainability Tour: Backyard Feather Revolution

Join us to learn how to keep a healthy and happy home-scale flock of chickens or ducks. We’ll tour Suzanne & Paul Mackey’s thriving urban homestead in Petaluma, where chickens and ducks are mindfully integrated into their backyard garden to manage pests and cycle nutrients while producing eggs. Local coop experts Michael & Dana Yares will discuss site selection and construction, as well as breeds, feeds and care considerations.  We’ll then head to Catchtail Gardens in Sebastopol to enjoy a potluck lunch. Deborah Grace and Djubaya will show us around their permaculture oasis, which includes an innovative chicken coop sporting a living roof. Simple in means but rich in ends, both households are models of holistic low-input living. Learn from these leaders and meet other engaged citizens. Bring your questions and build community!
